Instant Pot General Tso’s Chicken
This Instant Pot version of General Tso’s Chicken is a keeper!
I think this may be the first General Tso’s chicken recipe that I actually enjoyed. I cannot tell you if it’s closer to being authentic or not, but I enjoyed it. Plus it’s once again another Instant Pot recipe which means I extra love it.
What You Need:
2 lb. chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 tsp. dark soy sauce
2 Tbsp. honey
2 Tbsp. brown sugar
2 cloves minced garlic
1 tsp. freshly grated ginger
3 Tbsp. rice vinegar
1/4 tsp. red pepper flakes
1 Tbsp. tomato paste
2 Tbsp. hoisin sauce
1 Tbsp. cornstarch
1 Tbsp. water
1 Tbsp. sesame seeds
2 green onions, chopped
Directions:
Set your Instant Pot on saute and add chicken. Add additional ingredients up to and including hoisin sauce.
Stir everything well and then close the lid and set to seal.
Using the Poultry setting, set the time to cook for 5 minutes.
Release the pressure and carefully remove the lid.
Switch to saute and transfer chicken to a bowl with a slotted spoon.
In a small bowl, whisk the cornstarch and water together. Pour into the Instant Pot and stir.
Cook for an additional 2 minutes until sauce thickens. Add chicken back and turn Instant Pot off.
Serve chicken topped with sesame seeds and green onions - over rice, if desired.
