Chicken Patties
Why buy premade when you can make a much better chicken patty at home?!
In the past, I’ve tried a few recipes with ground chicken and have not had any luck. I don’t know why ground chicken freaks me out so much but ground turkey is totally fine, but I just chalk that up to my pregnancies causing chicken aversion. I like chicken but occasionally that aversion rears its ugly head. That being said, I’m a good trier. I will continue to try foods even when I know I don’t like them because what if I do? And this is a great example of trying a food I’ve tried before (ground chicken in a recipe) because in the end I did end up liking the food! In fact, I loved it. This is way better than any premade chicken patty I’ve ever had and I generally like premade chicken patties. Always happy to find a homemade version of something that knocks premade out of the ballpark.
What You Need:
1 lb. ground chicken
1/2 cup Italian breadcrumbs
1 large egg, beaten
1/4 cup mayonnaise
2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. dried parsley flakes
1/2 tsp. onion powder
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1/2 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. all purpose flour
Freshly chopped parsley for garnish, optional
Directions:
In a large bowl, mix together ground chicken, Italian breadcrumbs, egg, mayonnaise, Worcestershire, garlic powder, dried parsley flakes, onion powder, black pepper, and salt until well combined.
Then, add flour to a small bowl.
Divide chicken into 8 portions, about 1/4 cup each.
Roll each portion into flour, then form into patties.
In a large skillet over medium heat, add enough vegetable oil to coat the bottom of the pan.
Once oil is hot, cook patties in batches. Cook the first side for 3 to 4 minutes without touching. Flip and let cook, undisturbed, for 3 to 4 more minutes.
Once browned on each side and cooked through, remove to a paper towel-lined plate and garnish with parsley.
