Cheddar Bay Biscuits
This Red Lobster copycat is easy to make at home and the perfect pairing for many meals!
To this day, I have still not been to Red Lobster because I am not a person who enjoys seafood. However, how could you not want to eat one of these biscuits?! They have always looks so good with the cheese throughout and the melty butter on top. I prefer these homemade ones versus the ones you can get in a box mix at the store. They aren’t super complicated to make and don’t take any super crazy tools - if you don’t have a pastry cutter or a pastry brush, you can definitely use a fork and drizzle with a spoon. No big deal!
What You Need:
For the Biscuits:
2 3/4 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. onion powder
1 Tbsp. granulated sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
4 tsp. baking powder
3/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces
1 cup buttermilk
6 oz. shredded sharp cheddar cheese
For the Topping:
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
2 Tbsp. chopped fresh parsley
Directions:
For the biscuits: In a medium bowl, combine flour, garlic powder, onion powder, sugar, salt, and baking powder. Whisk to combine.
Use a pastry cutter or fork to cut very cold butter to flour mixture until butter is pea-sized.
Stir in buttermilk and mix until just combined to a sticky dough.
Add shredded cheese and incorporate into dough with your hands.
Scoop dough onto prepared baking sheet and flatten slightly.
Bake on a parchment paper lined baking sheet in a preheated 450 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes until golden brown.
For the topping: In a small bowl, combine all ingredients.
Use a pastry brush to brush the topping on each baked biscuits.
