Cheesy Stromboli

An easy stromboli recipe with three meats made with premade dough.

My eldest has always really liked calzones and stromboli. Per his request, I try to make them at least once every few months because we eat pizza (or pizza-like foods) every other week. I really liked this recipe because I didn’t have to make a pizza dough, you start with a premade dough and go from there. There is no cooking meat to let cool and then adding it to the dough. So it’s altogether quite quick to throw together and then it’s just a matter of letting it bake. This may be one of our favorite stromboli recipes we’ve had!

What You Need:

  • 1 can refrigerated pizza dough

  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella, divided

  • 1/3 cup marinara sauce

  • 4 oz. sliced ham

  • 4 oz. sliced salami

  • 4 oz. sliced pepperoni

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 Tbsp. water

  • 1/2 tsp. Italian seasoning

  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder

Directions:

  1. Roll pizza dough on a lightly floured surface into a 12×16-inch rectangle.

  2. Leave a 1-inch border around short edges and long edge closest to you, then a 3-inch border on the long edge furthest from you, spread the marinara sauce on the dough.

  3. Sprinkle 1 cup shredded mozzarella, along with ham, salami and pepperoni.

  4. Top with remaining 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella.

  5. Roll the pizza dough starting with the long edge closest to you, stop before your reach the end.

  6. In a small bowl, whisk together egg, water, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder.

  7. Brush egg wash along last long edge. Finish rolling up and pinch the seam to seal.

  8. Transfer to a parchment paper lined baking sheet and tuck short ends under.

  9. Brush entire stromboli with egg wash.

  10. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 24 to 28 minutes or until golden brown.

  11. Let rest 5 to 10 minutes before slicing.
