Sticky Ginger Black Pepper Beef
This stir fry is sweet & salty with beef and lots of veggies!
There is nothing better than making homemade stir fry meals. Little variations make all the difference and this particular recipe has honey and oyster sauce in the sauce. You have onion, red bell, and green beans that get tossed in with the beef and sauce. It’s hearty and fresh, plus a little sweet with the salty!
What You Need:
For the Beef:
1 lb. sirloin steak, thinly sliced into 1 inch strips
2 Tbsp. soy sauce
2 Tbsp. rice wine vinegar
1 Tbsp. cornstarch
1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
For the Vegetables:
1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
1 small yellow onion, thinly sliced
1 lb. fresh green beans, trimmed and halved
1 medium red bell pepper, thinly sliced
4 green onions, sliced
1 Tbsp. grated fresh ginger
3 cloves minced garlic
For the Sauce:
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup honey
1 Tbsp. vegetarian oyster sauce
1 Tbsp. rice wine vinegar
2 tsp. ground black pepper
1 Tbsp. cornstarch
1 Tbsp. water
Salt and pepper to taste
Sesame seed for garnish
Sliced green onions for garnish
Cooked rice for serving
Directions:
For the Beef: Place beef in a bowl with soy sauce, vinegar, and cornstarch. Toss to combine and then let sit for 20 minutes.
Heat vegetable oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium high heat.
Add beef and let cook undisturbed for 3 to 4 minutes, then flip and cook an additional 3 to 4 minutes. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
For the Vegetables: Wipe the beef skillet clean with a paper towel and then add vegetable oil to heat over medium high heat.
Add onion, green beans, and red bell pepper. Saute for 4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add green onions, ginger, and garlic. Cook for an additional 3 to 4 minutes. Remove from heat.
For the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, and ground pepper.
In a separate small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and water. Then stir into soy sauce mixture.
Pour over the vegetables and add beef. Cook over medium high heat for 3 to 4 minutes or until sauce is slightly thickened.
Season to taste with salt and pepper if needed. Serve beef and vegetables over rice topped with sesame seeds and green onions.
