Smash Burgers
The most basic of recipes for a classic and delicious burger!
Now that the Countdown to 2026 is over, it’s time to start sharing recipes again. I make quite a few new recipes in a calendar year and only post twice a week, so I’m a few years behind in sharing the recipes I’ve made. It sometimes comes in handy because we can have recipe multiple times and really get a feel for it. We eat burgers pretty consistently throughout the year and I did finally get a little tool to use for making smashburgers so I, of course, had to find a good recipe. This is the most basic of burger recipes but it is perfect. You don’t need anything more than beef with salt and pepper, good ole American cheese, and a hamburger bun. It’s classic.
What You Need:
1 lb. ground beef
Salt and pepper to taste
4 slices American cheese
4 hamburger buns
Directions:
Divide the beef into 8 portions and form into balls.
Heat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add 2 to 4 balls into the skillet and smash down into thin patties.
Season generously with salt and pepper to taste.
Cook until golden brown about 2 minutes and then flip.
Top cooked side with a slice of cheese and cook until melted and other side of the patty is cooked.
Slide onto buns and top with your favorite burger toppings.
