Pizza Poppers

The perfect little bite of pepperoni pizza is a great crowd pleasing appetizer.

This appetizer was made for New Year’s Eve 2022. Yes, nearly 3 ½ years ago. Finally getting around to posting it and happy to share it! We used my favorite pizza dough recipe (Herbed Pizza Dough). These were gone so quickly. It really reminds me a lot of pepperoni rolls and I really appreciate that I can choose how much sauce is on my portion. I’m a very light pizza sauce kinda girl. I definitely want to experiment with freezing these in different stages in the future so we can have them in small portions for a snack when the craving strikes!

What You Need:

  • 1 recipe pizza dough

  • 24 slices pepperoni

  • 24 pieces mozzarella cubes

  • Vegetable oil

  • 1/4 cup grated parmigiano reggiano

  • 1 tsp. Italian seasoning

  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce, heated

Directions:

  1. Roll pizza dough into a 12 by 8 inch rectangle. Then cut into 24 squares.

  2. Top with each square with a slice of pepperoni and mozzarella cubes.

  3. Wrap them up and seal tightly. Place sealed side down into a 9×13-inch baking dish lined with parchment paper.

  4. Brush with vegetable oil and top with parmigiano reggiano, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and salt and pepper.

  5. Bake in a preheated 400 degree oven for about 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.

  6. Serve with heated pizza sauce for dipping.
