We have some recipes that are holy grail recipes that the whole family loves and we want to make as often as we can. This naan recipe is one of those holy grail recipes. I have made it so many times and it turns out perfectly every single time. Don’t skip on the brushed on butter, sea salt, and parsley. These are soft and chewy. They are so easy to make and seriously, and I cannot state this enough times, so ridiculously delicious. They are a must!
What You Need:
1/4 cup warm water
2 tsp. granulated sugar
1 1/2 tsp. active dry yeast
3/4 cup warm milk
3/4 cup plain yogurt
1/4 cup olive oil
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt, plus some
4 1/4 cup all purpose flour, plus some
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
2 Tbsp. freshly chopped parsley or dried parsley
Directions:
Combine warm water and sugar in a large mixing bowl until sugar dissolves.
Sprinkle yeast on top and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
Add warm milk, yogurt, olive oil, baking powder, salt, and flour.
Using your hands, mix until a dough ball forms and then knead on a lightly floured surface for 3 to 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Coat the mixing bowl with olive oil and place dough ball inside. Cover and let sit for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
Divide dough into 10 equal wedges and roll into elongated circles about 1/4 to 1/8-inch thick.
Heat a large cast iron skillet over medium high heat.
Coat with oil and add a circle cooking for 30 to 60 seconds or until bubbles start to form.
Brush with butter and flip over. Cook for an additional 30 to 60 seconds.
Remove from pan and brush with butter. Sprinkle with salt and parsley.
Repeat with remaining circles. You may have to reduce heat if your pan is too hot and cooking them too quickly.
