Circus Animal Muddy Buddies
Muddy buddies sans the peanut butter - and instead, all the fun of a circus animal cookie!
I’ve made a few different variations of muddy buddies (or puppy chow) over the years and this circus animal cookie one might be one of my absolutely favorites. It’s pretty similar to how regular muddy buddies are made with sweet cake flavors coming from Funfetti cake mix. It has lots of sprinkles and is super fun with the split of white muddy buddies and pink!
What You Need:
4 oz. white chocolate (melts if you can find them!)
4 oz. pink candy melts (or white chocolate with pink food coloring)
1 cup Funfetti cake mix, divided
6 cups Rice Chex cereal, divided
2/3 cup powdered sugar, divided
2/3 cup rainbow nonpareils, divided
1 1/2 cups frosted circus animal cookies
Directions:
In a large bowl, melt white chocolate in the microwave and stir until smooth OR using a double boiler, melt and stir until smooth.
Stir in 1/2 cup cake mix, then add 3 cups Rice Chex. Gently stir to combine.
Immediately, add 1/3 cup powdered sugar and 1/3 cup nonpareils. Stir until evenly coated.
Pour onto a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
Repeat steps with pink melts or white chocolate with pink food coloring - using remaining cake mix, Chex, powdered sugar, and nonpareils in the steps.
Pour onto baking sheet with the white muddy buddies and toss gently to mix.
Top with lightly crushed circus animal cookies.
