Banana pudding is almost my favorite pudding (tapioca is my most favorite) even though I don't really like bananas raw. I had made a dirt pudding recipe that I really liked. It was very rich and creamy and I thought it deserved to be made into a banana pudding recipe. It's a pretty easy recipe to make and it's definitely different than other banana puddings I have had.

What you need:

  • Mini vanilla wafers

  • 2 pkg. (3.4 oz each) banana cream flavored instant pudding

  • 3 cups milk

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese

  • 1/4 cup butter (Half a stick)

  • 2 to 4 bananas

  • 1 tub (8 oz.) Cool Whip

Directions:

  1. Place some vanilla wafers at the bottom of the dish you will serve the banana pudding out of.

  2. In another bowl, mix puddings with milk. Set aside. *It will be soupy but it DOES thicken up during the next step*

  3. Stir together cream cheese, butter and powdered sugar until very smooth. I like to microwave my butter and cream cheese to soften them both up.

  4. Add sugar mixture into pudding and stir well to combine. Your pudding should be very thick and pudding-like by now.

  5. Slice up bananas!

  6. Fold bananas and Cool Whip into the pudding mixture. Do not stir until combined. Just fold it in.

  7. Pour over vanilla wafers.

  8. Add vanilla wafers on top. Chill for at least 30 minutes before serving to "set."
