Our Best Broccoli Salad

A classic side dish perfect for any holiday get-together or summer cookout!

I feel like broccoli salad was a staple in every potluck/get-together when I was a child (growing up in the Midwest). Now I don’t think anyone in my own little family would eat this, so it had been so long since I had had it. I decided to just on a whim make it for 4th of July a few years ago and I was so happy with my nostalgic treat.

What You Need:

For the Salad:

  • 8 cups chopped broccoli

  • 1/2 cup golden raisins

  • 1/2 cup craisins

  • 1/2 cup frozen peas, thawed

  • 1/2 cup diced red onion

  • 1 cup roasted salted sunflower seeds

  • 8 slices applewood smoked bacon, cooked and chopped

For the Dressing:

  • 1 cup mayonnaise

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar

  • 1 cup shredded Colby Jack cheese

Directions:

  1. For the salad: In a large bowl, mix together broccoli, raisins, craisins, peas, and onion.

  2. For the dressing: In a separate bowl, mix together all the dressing ingredients together.

  3. Pour the dressing over the vegetables and toss well to coat.

  4. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

  5. Right before serving, add bacon and sunflower seeds. Toss to mix in.
